CHARITIES

Proceeds of the Fort Smith Classic benefit the Beth Koprovic Memorial Charities to improve the lives of area children. To date the tournament has donated more than $1.2 million to 46 non-profit organizations.

Proceeds from all of this year’s Fort Smith Classic events will benefit:

The Fort Smith Children’s Emergency Shelter serves area children ages 6-17 whose primary needs are emergency short-term housing due to family dysfunction, abuse, neglect, runaway situations or other social problems which cannot be remedied in their present family environment, or as a temporary replacement for children in DHS custody whose placement has been disrupted.

The sole purpose of the Children’s Service League is to clothe needy Fort Smith children. They provide warm, comfortable clothing that will make a child feel good about being in school. A child who does not have adequate clothing finds it difficult to be at school. A child who feels good about him or herself has endless possibilities. link

The Fort Smith Boys & Girls Clubs mission is to help youth of all backgrounds develop qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders. Through their association with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, they seek to enhance the quality for life for the youth of the community. link

Girls Incorporated of Fort Smith is committed to providing a safe environment with educational and recreational programs that inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold. link

The First Tee of Fort Smith aims to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life enhancing values thru the game of golf. link

BETH KOPROVIC

A loving tribute to a woman who strived to change someone’s life every day.

Each year, the Fort Smith Classic partners with local non-profit organizations that are dedicated to improving and enriching the lives of children and our neighbors in need. The tournament is proud that this group of worthy organizations is named the Beth Koprovic Memorial Charities in honor of a woman who embodied these same ambitions.

Chester Koprovic, Beth's husband said, “The Fort Smith Classic helps people the way Beth helped people. I think this is a great way to honor her in a way that she finally deserved.”

Beth Koprovic was gracious, generous and intensely private. She quietly gave both time and money to organizations that helped something she loved, people.

Most who benefited from her kindness never knew the source of their support. In honor of her wish to remain private, Beth Koprovic’s family is still reluctant to divulge the list of charities that she supported, though we do know that her favorites include those that benefit children, women, church and the arts.

Over the years, the Fort Smith Classic has frequently offered the challenge, “Have you changed someone’s life today?” Those who knew Beth Koprovic can say without hesitation, “Yes, she did.”

And though no longer physically with us, Beth Koprovic continues to change lives. Her devotion to others and her legacy of giving shall continue through her children, grandchildren and the organizations she touched throughout her lifetime.
